Taste:
This wine was still powerful and showed all the dimensions of a well aged St Julien. Not a long finish but fairly complex and a wonderful, classic Bordeaux to enjoy now.

Cellartracker:
Very dark red color with a 4mm clear margin. Drank 1+ glass over 3 hours. Terrible cork, gorgeous bottle, I’ll take that trade off every time. This was really a pretty wine that showed amazing power for the vintage and at 47 years old. All the complexity one could ask for with the maturity and resolve that comes with age. For me a nose that makes me just stop and breathe deeply face in the glass; crushed red fruits, raspberry, cherry, iron, floral, forest floor, shitake mushroom, and mint. The palate is medium plus bodied, mint, wintergreen, dark red fruits, good power, tangy with tart cherry, fine tannins that still offers some grip that says I’m not ready to go away just yet; wood spices and anise hints on a lovely finish. This actually took on some weight and showed some cassis after 30 to 60 minutes. Great to the last drop even at 3 hours. Well stored bottles can still deliver for a several more years. I love these when they work. I may have enjoyed this more than some, but this is right in my wheel house. My WOTN. 94+ to 95pts.
